Degreed Buys HR Platform to Improve Corporate Learning Offerings

Dec 17, 2019

Degreed, a Pleasanton, Calif.-based corporate learning platform, has bought Adepto, a London-based provider of a platform that helps employers match job opportunities to workers’ skills and goals. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2012, Degreed made the purchase to accelerate global expansion and improve its platform’s offerings. The company claims to serve more than four million people at more than 250 organizations. In June, Degreed raised $75 million, which its CEO suggested could go toward acquisitions.

Degreed previously acquired learning materials playlist curator Gibbon in 2016, and snapped up a competitor, Pathgather, last June.

Founded in 2013, Adepto claims growth of 150 percent a year for three consecutive years and has more than 40 employees. It has offices in London, New York and Australia. Cisco and the government of the Australian state of Queensland are among its clients.

Other acquisitions in the corporate learning space this year include Intellum’s purchase of Appitierre, Tier1 Performance’s purchase of Bottom-Line Performance and the pending Thoma Bravo purchase of Instructure.
