Data Consolidation: CaseNEX and Longleaf Merge

Sep 2, 2015

DATA MERGER: Edtech companies CaseNEX and Longleaf Solutions have announced plans to merge, according to a press release. The merger is supported by a capital investment from private equity firm LLR Partners. The CEO and co-founder of Longleaf, Michael Williamson, will become the CEO of the combined company.

CaseNEX and Longleaf both focus on large-scale data analytics for schools and districts. CaseNEX’s DataCation offers several products for tracking and visualizing test scores, connecting teachers with parents and forecasting student progress against target metrics. LongLeaf’s Baseline Edge aggregates student, teacher and operations data onto one dashboard to facilitate analysis and planning.

This investment will be the second for LLR in the K-12 space; its portfolio also includes several companies focusing on teaching on the job skills to professionals.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that the investment was LLR's first in the K-12 space. LLR also invests in Avenues: The World School.
