GREAT LEAP FORWARD: The Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop has released "Take A Giant Step," a professional development "blueprint" crafted by the Digital Age Teacher Preparation Council. It outlines five goals for the year 2020, all involving how educators can best integrate digital technologies for children 3 to 8. Great introduction for newbies, but loyal Edsurgents will see themes we've covered before: training educators on best practices, integrating tech into curriculum standards, creating public-private R&D partnerships. (Maybe except for the proposal to assess "accredited early childhood settings" based on yet-to-be-developed tech standards.) From what we've seen, both the Davids and Goliaths are currently hard at work tackling these issues.
