EDSURGE EXCLUSIVE: Root-One, Inc, the award-winning app developer that brought us StoryLines for Schools, will be launching a new app at the 2012 SXSW festival. Word Kung Fu (beta link) is "an adaptive web-based app, aimed at helping elementary and middle-school students learn and master their vocabulary, grammar, usage and mechanics skills." According to the press release, "over 70% of the Common Core standards per grade are covered" through a series of mini-games to be played daily for 15-30 minutes. Word Kung Fu, initially for Grade 3, will be available later this week through Edmodo’s Apps Marketplace for $30 per year per classroom (of up to 30 students).
