Edtech Symbiosis: Kajeet for Education, a division of Kajeet, said this week that it would provide the phones for Tutors With Computers, a leading tutoring service that school districts use to help academically struggling, low-income students. It looks like a nicely symbiotic deal, particularly given the distinctive features of the education business. (Those would include: customers with fragile budgets and "channels" for reaching those customers that are more like tiny, winding footpaths rather than four-lane highways.) Here's how it will work: TWC gets devices that are tuned for students at a good price. Kajeet gets to piggyback on the sales force of TWC and so gets its brand in front of more schools more quickly than it could do on its own. That also means Kajeet for Ed can show its partner, Sprint, the value of getting into the school market. Keep an eye on Kajeet for Education this autumn as it rolls out more school networking solutions.
