POLICY MATTERS: The Obama Administration recently proposed a $5B grant competition to overhaul the teaching profession. Details are sparse but Secretary of Ed, Mr. Arne Duncan says the goal is to "work with teachers in rebuilding their profession and to elevate the teacher voice" in policy matters. Just imagine the Race to the Top model minus the mumbo jumbo about standards, assessments and data collection.
