Ashton Kutcher VC Firm Invests in Online Vocational School SV Academy

Dec 17, 2019

SV Academy, a San Francisco-based online vocational school for sales jobs, has received an undisclosed amount of investment from Sound Ventures, a venture capital firm whose team includes actor and investor Ashton Kutcher and talent manager Guy Oseary.

Founded in 2017, SV Academy claims to have led 28 cohorts and moved hundreds of people into sales careers. The company recently inked deals with Arizona State and Florida International universities to provide a program for people who want to work in tech without learning to code. The 12-week, tuition-free tech sales training provides students with on-the-job training and mentorship along with a full-time job offer upon completion.

Susan Su of Sound Ventures says she hopes the new investment helps the company provide more services to students. “Not everyone wants to be a software developer, and that’s OK,” she says. SV Academy “knows the sales process, and those are hard techniques you’re not going to get except on the job.”

The investment comes months after SV raised a $9.5 million Series A round.
