TROX-IC AVENGER: Two providers of hardware and software services to schools—Phoenix-based Troxell Communications and Markham, Ontario-based CDI Technologies—have merged. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The company will change its name to Troxell-CDI and offer products and services from more than 500 vendors for students and educators, according to a statement Monday. Products and services include professional development, asset management software, campus security and audio-visual equipment. Its 175 sales professionals will serve 70 million students in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. The goal is to expand across North America.
The new company will be headquartered in Phoenix. CDI CEO Erez Pikar will lead the new company with Troxell CEO Mike Ruprich moving to a board member once the companies finish integration.
Founded in 1946, Troxell evolved from the largest privately held audio-visual equipment distributor in the U.S. to a focus on emerging technologies for K-12 schools.
Founded in 1981, CDI started as a general computer dealer and moved into refurbishing used computers, eventually specializing in education.
