WHALE WATCH: Orcas, a Cairo, Egypt-based app that connects parents and students with tutors and babysitters, has raised $500,000 in a pre-Series A round led by Algebra Ventures. NFX Capital also participated.

Founded in 2014, Orcas plans to use the money toward improving its product and scaling the company, according to Ventureburn. The company claims to have over 20,000 student users of its app.

Algebra Ventures’ previous edtech investments include Little Thinking Minds earlier this year.
