WONDERSCHOOL, the developer of a platform that helps adults run and find childcare businesses and preschools, has raised $2.1 million from Omidyar Network, Be Curious Partners, Rethink Education, Edelweiss partners and Learn Capital. This funding is an extension of the San Francisco startup’s seed round last July, which now tallies $4.1 million.
Founded in 2016, Wonderschool helps educators create in-home childcare businesses, offering assistance with marketing, professional development and licensing. Parents can peruse the site for a list of providers near their neighborhood and enroll their children. So far the company has providers in Los Angeles, New York and the San Francisco Bay Area. The goal, according to the press release, is to expand to 500 programs in the U.S. (including 150 in New York).
