Barnes and Noble Launches Courseware Solution

Nov 7, 2016

BEYOND BOOKS: Barnes & Noble Education is putting more skin into the digital course materials game. The Basking Ridge, N.J.-based operator of hundreds of college bookstores launched Barnes & Noble Education Courseware, which aims to make it easier for faculty to use open educational resources (OER). At launch, the offering includes 10 general education courses. Each one includes OER, such as OpenStax, and faculty can “drag and drop” modules like video examples and slides to customize the content.

Back in March, Barnes & Noble acquired LMS Provider LoudCloud Systems. The new courseware solution integrates analytics from LoudCloud, so faculty can view student progress. BNED Courseware is available for colleges to adopt for spring 2017.
