Coursera Hires First Chief Marketing Officer

Oct 27, 2014

BRINGING THAT DISNEY MAGIC: With over 10 million students and counting, one might safely assume that Coursera (which no longer keeps tally on its homepage) has done a fair job at marketing its MOOCs. But the Mountain View, CA startup apparently wants to do better, hiring Kurt Apen as its first Chief Marketing Officer. A former eBay and Disney executive, Apen most recently led marketing efforts for Disney Interactive's mobile game division, Playdom. Perhaps he'll be the one tasked with turning non-paying students into revenue for Coursera. (How does Coursera make money, you ask?)
