Navis Capital Partners Buys 'Controlling Stake' in Australian Education Company

MODERN STAR: Malaysian private equity firm, Navis Capital Partners, has bought a "controlling stake" in Modern Star Pty Ltd, an Australian conglomerate that owns early-childhood educational companies, including Modern Teaching Aids (online marketplace of educational resources), Modern Brands (learning toys store) and Chalk (toy fundraising catalog). Financial terms were undisclosed but a Reuters source says the deal "valued Modern Star between A$200 million and A$250 million (approx. US $174 million to $217 million).
