Making Sense of the Top 183 Language and Literacy Apps

Aug 26, 2014

METHOD TO THE MADNESS: Language and literacy apps make up 37% of the top educational app lists across the iTunes, Google Play and Amazon stores, according to the "Snapshot of Kids' Language & Literacy Apps," from New America and the Joan Ganz Cooney Center. Apps that make it to the "most popular" list in one store, however, rarely make it to another. This survey of 183 literacy apps also finds "a trend towards promoting more advanced literacy skills...particularly pronounced within the iTunes store." The second round of findings will be shared in September.
