SHAME ON YOU, SHAME ON ME: Thoughtful NYT Op-Ed from Mr. Bill Gates on why public disclosure of NYC teacher ratings is a bad idea. Most notably, Mr. Gates points out the fallacy of value-added ratings, adding that evaluations "must incorporate other measures of effectiveness, like students’ feedback about their teachers and classroom observations by highly trained peer evaluators."
