student achievement a worried bunch

A WORRIED BUNCH: Last week's NAEP report card on 4th and 8th grade math and reading failed to impress anyone. Math scores posted a small increase from 2009 while reading scores remained flat. Progress in math has continually outpaced reading, notes the Christian Science Monitor. Arne Duncan finds "reason for concern as much as optimism." Lynne Munson, Executive Director of CommonCore.org (not to be confused with the CC state standards site), calls the results "proof of education insanity."
