"A SKYPE A DAY..." At last Wednesday's Social Good Summit, Skype CEO Tony Bates asked a packed crowd: "If Skype can have 170 million connected users in eight years, can't we have 1 million connected clasrooms?" Skype in the Classroom is a dedicated teacher network launched back in March. It has since seen over 16,000 educators in 171 countries sign up. Bates is serious about hitting the 1 million mark. Last month Skype partnered with Clorox (keep those calls sparkly clean!) for the Power A Bright Future grant program that will offer four $25k grants and a $50k grant to schools nominated for cool programs in three categories (Play, Create, Explore). That could be something to Skype home about.
