Refining the Lingo of Education Technology

REFINING THE LINGO: The Innosight Institute's Michael Horn and Heather Staker, pioneers of much of today's blended learning terminology, are at it again with an updated report, "Classifying K-12 Blended Learning." The revised taxonomy draws on 80 K-12 blended learning programs and feedback from roughly 100 educators on last year's groundbreaking study, "The Rise of K-12 Blended Learning." They've narrowed the number of different models to four--rotation, flex, self-blend, enriched-virtual--and included four sub-models within the rotation model. (And yes, the "flipped" classroom is covered.) We like how they have added diagrams to help portray how they work in different schools.
