Pearson Partners with Gooru Search Engine for Make-Your-Own-Ebook Service

Nov 6, 2012

THE OPEN, FRIENDLY SKIES? Pearson has announced a partnership with non-profit Gooru for Project Blue Sky, an upcoming service due to launch in beta in spring 2013. Using Gooru's existing edu search engine, this tool will allow educators to search for content and get results that include both Pearson-developed and OER materials, such as those from MIT OpenCourseWare, Connexions, and Wikiversity. The Chronicle of Higher Ed reports that they can then pick and choose materials to combine into an e-book, which the system will then price accordingly. This is the second recent big move for Gooru, which is also recently announced a partnership with Silverback Learning Solutions. Silverback's Mileposts product will help identify where students need help; teachers will use Gooru to find resources that will help bring them up to speed. (Here's that press release.)
