MITx: Not one to be left in the dust, OER pioneer MIT has announced it will go one step further and offer official credentials for completion of online courses for a "modest" fee. School officials are pretty mum about the specific courses to be offered under its new online ed platform, dubbed "MITx." Like its OpenCourseWare offerings, courses will be video-driven, with online assignments and tests. Sounds pretty similar to Stanford's online courses earlier this year, which also offered their own certificates of completion. (Certificates sound so old school--aren't we're in the era of badges now?)
