mergers and acquisitions instructables goes to autodesk

Instructables goes to Autodesk: Ok, we confess: we love all things "Makers"--and Instructables has been right in line. So the news that Autodesk has acquired Instructables is both relief (whew: they will be viable!) and a bit worried (it's been such a wonderfully idiosyncratic site). Here's Phillip Torrone's deconstruction of the deal. Money quote from the Instructables' blog: "Instructables will be the community arm of the same team that makes 123D, SketchBook, Homestyler, and Pixlr, which will help provide creative tools, inspiration, and services for all types of creative people." Let's hope this is a win for all.
