SAPLING LEARNING: Acquired by Macmillan New Ventures for an undisclosed price. The Austin, TX-based startup, which began as Sapling Systems in 2005, provides interactive homework and instruction materials covering higher ed and high school topics, including math, sciences and economics. Since its coming-out announcement back in July, Macmillan New Ventures' portfolio now has four companies, including EBI MAP-works, i>clicker and PrepU. More info in the press release.
