ROCKETSPACE: A packed house turned out for the first edtech panel at RocketSpace (moderated by EdSurge's Leonard Medlock) last week to talk about the relationship between informal and formal learning. Gagin Biyani declared Udemy is disrupting education much like blogging disrupted publishing. Pearson's Chalon Bridges said the giant is doing "a lot of experiments" to bridge the gap. Steve Schoettler said Junyo wants to help schools use data better. Ahmed Siddiqui (GogoMongo) and Dave Merrill (Sifteo) described the power of games or using play to help learning. Leonard's last question: who would be awarding more high school certificates in five years' time: public schools or Khan Academy? Counting Leonard, the vote was an even tie. Pearson sponsored the event.
