Education's Datapalooza

Oct 9, 2012

DATA DAYS: Tuesday in Washington was Datapalooza Day, a moment for the Dept. of Education to share data sets with developers whom it hopes will turn all those bits into products or apps that promote learning. They didn't get it together to create a live stream (so much for all those bits) but here's a Storified collection of tweets (yep, everyone is very happy to be there). Among those demoing: EverFi, Mozilla and North Carolina's Anson County School District showed off a "universal sign-in" application, which let students use a single EverFi sign-on to get to their data. The National Student Clearinghouse demoed an application called Meteor to do real-time tracking of financial aid and student debt. Here's a list of the available government education related data sets for future Datapaloozers.
