PLANS FOR MORE PLANS: Speaking of action, the FCC and DOE have formed the Leading Education by Advancing Digital (LEAD) Commission, an initiative consistent with efforts outlined in the National Broadband Plan and National Educational Technology Plan set forth a couple years ago. What LEAD entails: gathering policy wonks and experts across disciplines to conduct research with the goal of producing a "blueprint for action" by the end of this year. As if on cue, Tom Torlakson, California's State Superintendent of Public Instruction, announced on Monday the creation of the Education Technology Task Force, a small army of 48 unpaid volunteers, to do pretty much the same thing for the state. We just can't wait to see where all this action to make plans for further action goes.
