Crowdfunding for Tesla Museum takes off

Aug 17, 2012

TESLA MUSEUM: Matthew Inman aka The Oatmeal wants to spread the Gospel of Nikola Tesla, providing a convincing case for why Tesla is "the greatest geek who ever lived." And he's put his money where his mouth is--and hopes that you will too--by launching a KickstarterIndieGoGo campaign to help a non-profit purchase Tesla's final laboratory, the Wardenclyffe Tower, and turn it into a Tesla Museum. The property is listed at $1.6 million and the state of New York has offered to match funds up to $850K, leaving the roughly other half up to The Oatmeal and friends. The campaign surpassed the mark in a mere six days. (Inman is certainly no stranger to viral fundraising, having recently concluded his "BearLove Good. Cancer Bad." campaign as part of a hilarious legal circus.)
