COMING TO A CHAIR NEAR YOU! Critics of education technology like to complain that the field lacks evidence of efficacy and that too frequently innovations in edtech ignore pedagogy research. We're encouraged to hear about efforts to develop genuine evidence, such as those going at Roland Fryer's Ed Labs at Harvard, SRI's Evidence Framework, and a few other nascent efforts. But how about adding a dash of research on pedagogy, too? Sounds like a need that could be filled with a high-profile research position, say a chair in education technology at oh, say, Stanford University. Now all it needs is a patron who believes in education and in the power of technology to transform it for the 21st century. Our bet: John and Ann Doerr.
