Building community: Every aspiring platform needs a gathering -- to rev enthusiasm for the tools and let users know they've got friends. In our oh-so-digital world, we can get away with a virtual confab. That's why we're psyched to see the first EdmodoCon, slated for August 10. Insiders hint that the Edmodo population (both teachers & students) is about 2 million. If your community isn't yet big enough to host your own gathering, you can also join in on the glorious online teacher fest, the Global Education Collaborative, now in its second year. It will take place in November. It is organized by Steve Hargadon and Lucy Gray. They've just put out the call for presentations; write to Steve for details.
