21-Yr Old Leans on Game Simulations to Nab Top Spot at Soccer Club

Nov 28, 2012

GBL PAYS OFF: The little known Baku FC (that's er... soccer club in Euro-speak) recently made a few headlines when it hired a 21-year General Manager with no management experience... well, at least in the real world. Vugar Guloglan oglu Huseynzade beat out a former European POY for the spot on the basis of his 10-year record playing Football Manager, a soccer management game for PC/Mac offered by one-time gaming juggernaut, Sega. Lest you think this is only a PR ploy, the young man has been advising the Azerbaijani club for months behind the scenes. He very well may be a soccer management prodigy destined for this position, but Huseynzade is now Exhibit A in the case for using games to explain and explore complex systems.
