Unacademy Nabs $21 million in Series C Round

Jul 17, 2018

UNSTOPPABLE: Unacademy, a Bengaluru-based video learning platform for test-prep and subjects based on the Indian curriculum, has raised $21 million in a Series C round, according to a press release.

Sequoia India, SAIF partners, Nexus Venture Partners and Blume Ventures took part in the raise. TechCrunch reports that all four were part of Unacademy’s Series B round last year. The company plans on using the money to add more instructors on its platform, grow its reach in certain subjects (including pre-medical) and “strengthen the core product and technology team.”

Unacademy started in 2010 as a YouTube channel. It claims to be India’s largest learning platform, with 3,000 active educators and 40 million lessons watched by students in just the last month alone. The company says it’s raised $38.6 million in funding to date.
