SELECTED (AND FUNDED): Selected, a self-proclaimed “dating app” that helps match teachers with jobs at PreK-12 schools, has raised $1.2 million in a seed round led by Propel Capital. Kapor Capital and other investors also participated.
Founded in 2016, the New York-based company currently works with more than 500 public and independent schools. According to TechCrunch, the company claims to have reached about 10,000 teachers. The funding will help the company refine its matchmaking algorithm and expand to new cities beyond the U.S. northeast, where many of its current users are located.
