​Barnes & Noble Acquires Student Writing Company for $58.5M

BARNES & NOBLE EDUCATION has acquired subscription-based writing skills service, Student Brands, for $58.5 million cash. Based in Los Angeles and India, Student Brands operates over 20 different websites focusing on developing writing skills for students in high school, college and post-graduate studies.

Student Brands claims to have more than 20 million users in the U.S., Brazil, France and Mexico. CEO Thomas Swalla and other executive leaders at Student Brands will be joining Barnes & Noble Education as full-time employees.
