French Edtech Startup Raises $1.5M to Build Wooden Tablet Add-Ons and Toys

May 18, 2017

MARBOTIC, a France-based edtech startup that creates wooden add-ons and toys for tablet devices, has raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round. Investors who participated in the round include the Mirabelle investment fund, Marguerite Fournié (former director at Actéon), and Michelin Development.

Founded in 2012, Marbotic toy sets sell for about $40 to $500 USD and include wooden letters and numbers that kids can use to digitally interact with a tablet screen. According to a Marbotic representative, the funding will be used to develop new products for the classroom, in particular around reading and writing in different languages.
