Public School Leaders to Receive Largest Private Investment in Texas History

Feb 1, 2017

WHO WANTS TO BE A ($100) MILLIONAIRE? Many educators know that strong leadership leads to better schools, and a recent announcement from philanthropist Charles Butt suggests that he agrees. Last week, Butt and a group of educator leaders announced the establishment of the Holdsworth Center for Education, a foundation that plans to invest $100 million in public school leaders. The donation represents the largest private investment ever made to public education in Texas.

According to Kate Rogers, the acting executive vice president of the Holdsworth Center, the foundation’s mission is “to provide the necessary tools and resources so the very talented individuals working in our schools can reach their fullest potential and, in turn, serve our children even more powerfully in the future.” The program will provide administrators from selected district with training and leadership development, as well as the chance to learn from educators nationally and internationally.
