Reuters: Chinese Test Prep Company Offers Students Unfair Access to SAT, TOEFL Questions

Dec 27, 2016

INSIDER KNOWLEDGE? Reuters continues its sleuthing into the vulnerabilities afflicting the integrity of the SAT. The latest story claims that a Chinese company, New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc, has been able to provide its students with questions straight from SAT and TOEFL tests shortly after they have been administered. Since problems are re-used, those with this access may have an unfair advantage over other test takers. Further complicating the issue are the tangled relationships: New Oriental is a business partner of Educational Testing Service, “the New Jersey non-profit that both owns the TOEFL and provides security for the SAT.”
