UChicago Invests $25M in Startups With School Ties

Dec 5, 2016

CAPITAL WITH ROOTS: The University of Chicago announced it’s dedicating $25 million from its $7.1 billion endowment to invest in early-stage companies led by faculty, students, staff and alumni. The UChicago Startup Investment Program will target companies raising a Series A round, and will require an established venture capital firm to lead the round.

"There are great new ideas that are emerging from the university and we're investing heavily in helping innovators … in getting their idea to the marketplace for greater impact on society," John Flavin, who leads the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the UChicago tells the Chicago Tribune.
