Byju Raises $50 Million in Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative’s First Asian Investment

BYJU, an Indian startup that offers online educational videos, games and courses specific to subjects and exams, has raised $50 million in a round led by the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). Other participants include previous investors Sequoia Capital, Sofina, Lightspeed and Times Internet. This funding comes just six months after Byju raised $75 million in a Series C round. Founded in 2011, Byju boasts more than 5.5 million downloads and 250,000 paying subscribers for its app, launched last year.
