Junction Education Teams Up With MBS Direct to Scale OER-Based Courseware

May 25, 2016

WHAT’S YOUR FUNCTION? Junction Education, a digital courseware platform based on open educational resources, today announced a partnership with MBS Direct, a course material fulfillment company. The partnership will allow higher-ed institutions that source textbooks and other digital learning materials from MBS to have access to Junction’s library of college courses and its authoring platform.

Junction, based in Short Hills, N.J, provides course materials, analytics and authoring tools for online or blended courses in subjects including Intro to Biology and Principles of Macroeconomics. Founded in 2014, it’s used by more than two dozen colleges and universities and is designed to integrate with their LMS of choice. Junction has helped students save more than $300,000, according to Founder and CEO Vineet Madan.

“Book publishers and distributors have had a frenemy relationship for years dating back to the days of used books,” Madan tells EdSurge in an email, saying that the textbook rental market further strained the relationship. Madan thinks affordable course content is the next battlefront.
