Nearpod Tops Off Series A Round Totaling $9.2 Million

May 9, 2016

NEARPOD, which we reported had raised $5.6 million back in April 2015, has now closed an additional $3.6 million. That puts the total amount for the San Francisco startup’s Series A round at $9.2 million.

The funding comes courtesy of Reach Capital and Rothenberg Ventures, which led the deal, along with Storm Ventures, Emerson Collective, Stanford-StartX Fund, the Knight Foundation, Arsenal Venture Partners, Krillion Venture, Marc Benioff (CEO of Salesforce) and Deborah Quazzo (managing partner of GSV Advisors) also participating.

Founded in 2012, Nearpod offers teachers a platform where they can create, share and distribute digital lessons to students on any device. It also offers lessons on digital citizenship (in collaboration with Common Sense Education) along with virtual reality experiences through Google Cardboard. The company currently claims users in more than 10,000 schools, with TechCrunch reporting that 2,000 of them are paying customers.
