NPR Launches 'School Money' Project

Apr 19, 2016

NOT A TRICK QUESTION: Would you rather that a school $9,794 per students, or $28,639 per student? According to NPR, those two amounts at the per-student spending for two Illinois school districts—ones that sit less than an hour apart. On Monday, NPR announced the new "School Money" Project, an exploration into how states pay their public schools and whether "money matters" in student achievement. For Part 1 of 3, NPR teamed up with EdWeek to build a map of per-student spending nationwide, accessible here.
