Bill Fitzgerald, Director of Common Sense Media’s Privacy Review Program, offers a smart primer on the different shades “privacy” and how vendors can have “great security and bad privacy.” Consumers deserve more power to secure their data, he suggest:

“If we—people with less access to technical and financial resources than the more wealthy or connected—want to have a chance at maintaining our privacy, encryption is one of the tools we must have at our disposal.”
