REFOCUSING AUTISM: The singular and intense focus of autistic individuals is well-documented. What isn’t as widely known, however, is the prevailing unemployment among autistic individuals: 35 percent of young adults with autism have never had a job. A growing number of educators think the tech industry may offer the right jobs to end autistic underemployment, and companies like Microsoft and SAP are making pledges to hire autistic employees.
