Enlearn Wins $3M Grant for Adaptive Learning Platform

Nov 18, 2015

ENLEARN has been awarded a grant of $3 million from the Gates Foundation’s College Ready program to further pilot its software in classrooms. The Seattle-based nonprofit makes an adaptive platform for digital courseware, games and assessments. Founded in 2012, Enlearn proclaims that its signature element is "Generative Adaptation," which, according to Enlearn's website, combines "problem generation, machine learning and adaptation to student or classroom responses." In layman's terms, this means that the nonprofit's proprietary technology writes new problems based on data pulled from all student responses and classroom variables. Research conducted by founder and chief scientist Zoran Popovic, who is also Director of the Center for Game Science at University Washington, forms the basis of the platform.
