TOO COOL (PERFECT FOR SCHOOL): We've got our favorite edtech teacher and administrator tools for the week right here, as highlighted in our Instruct newsletter. By the way--got a favorite S’Cool Tool you like to use? We would love to hear and share your recommendations! If you’ve got a tool that makes you or your students sing from the proverbial mountaintops, fill out this form to let us know. It might just get featured!

Free! With all of the recent social justice cases in the news, we could all use a tool that helps us teach kids about right and wrong, equity, and the history of the United States. That’s where “Perspectives for a Diverse America” by Teaching Tolerance comes into play. This collection of free and easy-to-use resources brings together anti-bias social justice content with content aligned to the Common Core State Standards. And yes, it’s free.

Free! Students can get their roleplay on this year and not just in theatre class. Try in computer science, with an online RPG that teaches students JavaScript through head-to-head or cooperative code challenges. CodeCombat does exactly that, and it’s designed for both middle school (Grades 5-8) and high school (Grades 9-12).

Free! Looking to save time in how you handle parent communications? SimplyCircle is a way to easily connect with them--and with PTA’s, scout groups, sports teams, and the list goes on. The new 2.0 app can send event updates, create events and tasks, request volunteer signups, and share documents and photos. And you can also now message individual parents without sharing out with the whole group.
