S'Cool Tools of the Week: LearnZillion, Metria, Hapara

Aug 9, 2015

TOO COOL (PERFECT FOR SCHOOL): Didn’t get a chance to check out the 25 tools at our CA Summit this week? Never fear, we’ve got three right here to experiment with before you head into the new year! Here are the curriculum management tools that caught our eye. (Wow, there was a lot of unintentional rhyming in that sentence… #winning.)

Free: Got those SmarterBalanced test scores back? You may already been planning on how to rev your Common Core instruction this coming fall. LearnZillion, is a fast-growing Common Core digital curriculum and professional development platform for grades 2-12. The site is filled with CCSS-aligned lessons. You can use them via a web browser or iOS/Android apps. The basic features are free, but for a fee, schools can upgrade to LearnZillion premium, which enables teachers to work instructional coaches and customize their curriculum,

Freemium: Metria is a suite of management tools designed to help teachers manage and create lesson plans, conduct formative assessments, and track interventions, all in one place. Check out some of Metria’s features for free, or get a paid package priced at $30 per teacher per year.

License: One trendy tool amongst Google Apps for Education users is the Hapara Teacher Dashboard for Google Apps, which enables teachers to track student activity across every app, including docs and presentations in Drive, Gmail, Sites and Blogger. School leaders and district administrators can purchase an annual license of $4 per student per year for the Teacher Dashboard and Interact.
