NSVF Announces 'NewSchools Catapult' School Model Development Program

Jul 6, 2015

THE JUMP-OFF: On Monday, July 6th, NewSchools Venture Fund announced the launch of "NewSchools Catapult," a program that provides school model development teams with direct financial investment, a cohort experience and targeted assistance. The goal? For all teams to launch new school models in the fall of 2016. Keeping in line with its mission, NewSchools is looking for teams intending to serve communities with underserved students in PreK-12, and specifically interested in early-stage charters or autonomous district schools.

The NewSchools Catapult program is divided into two distinct phases:

  • Phase 1: Invent is a 6-10 month program designed to support school teams during the year prior to launching a new school, specifically those who want to work towards developing an application for Phase Two. Benefits include financial support averaging around $100,000.
  • Phase 2: Launch is a 2 ½ year program designed to support school teams for the months leading up to launch through their second year of operation. Benefits include financial support averaging around $400,000.
