MODERN TEACHER: Two Chicago education companies--digedu and Modern Teacher--have merged; the new entity will retain the name, Modern Teacher. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Modern Teacher was launched by three local educators in 2012 and offers a suite of print and digital professional development materials. Digedu, founded in April 2013, provides schools with services including hardware support, bandwidth solutions and an online instructional platform. (It raised $2.5 million in January 2014.)
