Open Source Textbooks Save Students $128 Per Course

Feb 26, 2015

SAVING DOLLARS: Open source textbooks saved college students on average $128 per course, according to a report from The Student Public Interest Research Groups, which analyzed pilots of courses using open source textbooks at five colleges.

With the average cost of books and supplies for the 2014-2015 year coming in at over $1,300, according to the College Board, the bigger question is: Does open educational content positively impact student learning (beyond financial savings)?
