He argues this week on Slate that that the blackboard-centered classroom is still the best place to learn and teach, given that it “offers an effective set of teaching possibilities” and “offers more than pedagogical efficiency.” Also among the blackboard’s merits: teaching students how to deal with public failure and private anxieties when they have to work at the board.
