SMART TOY: Acquired by Culver City, CA-based Cartwheel Kids for an undisclosed sum. Smart Toy is the creator of UBooly (the company’s original name), a stuffed animal that can house a smartphone and interact with children. Now the company will build learning apps directly into the toy--without the need for a mobile device, reports TechCrunch. UBooly had raised $1.5 million in a seed round in 2012. Smart Toy is part of Disney’s inaugural accelerator. More details in the press release.
